How many people have told their child how smart they are? How intelligent they have become because they can distinguish from the color red and the color blue? Many I suppose, because that’s what a good parent says to their kids when they do something good. What if the way some children are being raised isn’t the correct way? By the correct way means with the correct mentality to go on with life, education, and the struggles that they can have in their future. As parents, we want our kids to feel confident with themselves and what they are capable of doing, and becoming the key to that is each parent’s goals. Youth Outreach Program At My Church - 1747 Words

I am a very active individual within my church however we do not currently have a youth services program. This has become very popular and common in my area therefore I feel it is important to implement a youth outreach program at my church. Drift Pentecostal Church is an adult-driven church that has dissipated in youth over the last 10 years. Drift Pentecostal Church has not had a youth program since the early 70 s. The program has dwindled to a mere once a week Sunday School class that is separated by ages. With each year, the enrollment has diminished thereby leaving our church with only 20 youth members ranging from ages 2-18 years of age. Of these individuals, approximately 80 percent are under the age of 10. Although the pastor is very effective at bringing in new members, it is still important to target the youth in our society today. The most important reason, schools are no longer allowing God in their programs. With the constant fight for separation of church and state, the youth are suffering. On the other hand, according to the authors, decision makers belonging from the younger age groups will have less organizational experiences and thus will get less influenced from their past experiences in initiating decision making process. Masculinity of the society Another important social factor is the masculinity of the society. According to Dartey-Baah (2013), the more masculine will be the society, the more will be inclination of the society towards the materialistic success, achievement and rewards. Thus, decision makers belonging from the masculine society will concentrate more on generating profit and revenue for their organizations at any cost. They will be more result and success oriented. On the other hand, according to the authors, if the society is inclined towards femininity, then the society will be more concentrated towards caring, modesty and enjoying the quality of the life. Thus, decision makers belonging from the feminist society will be more employees oriented and they will be more concentrated in welfare of the employees rather than going after the organizational success. Thus, this is another social factor that is having influence on the decision making process. According to Skerlavaj, Su and Huang (2013), masculinity and femininity of the society is one of the key factors in determining the effectiveness of the decision making process. This is due to the reason that, in some cases, the masculine approach of the decision makers will be beneficial for the business organizations and vice versa. The authors have stated that, there are various organizational situations where the decision making process should be masculine or vice versa. Thus, the influence of the social inclination will be also determined by the organizational situation. Location and country of origin Another key social factor in the decision making process is the location or the country of origin of the decision makers. This is due to the reason that, different locations are having different cultural and social elements being followed around the world. On the other hand, decision makers from the more liberal countries will be open to new ideas and will encourage gender equality and other contemporary factors. The authors have also discussed that, decision makers from the conservative countries will be reluctant in accepting new, innovative and out of the box thinking. They will be more inclined towards following the social norms and regulations and driving the organization in more traditional ways. On the other hand, the decision makers from the liberal countries will be open to innovative and new ideas from the employees and they will encourage in having open and liberal working environment in the organization. They will give less importance to the hierarchical process and traditional approach. However, in the decision making process, the social differences of the decision makers is not only the key social factor rather, the social structure where the organization is located is also important. This is due to the reason that, if the decision makers are liberal and open to new and innovative ideas, then also the decision cannot be taken unless the employees and other associated stakeholders will get agreed. Thus, in the decision making process, locations of the business organizations, perception and culture of the majority of the employees are also having influences. It is important for the decision makers to consider these social factors related to the organization in initiating the decision making process. Thus, this report recommends that, the decision maker should be able to determine the available resources for their organization s and should initiate the decision making process accordingly. Various biases that can get originated in the decision making process are also been discussed in this report. Biases are being discussed in this report in order to identify the potential areas of improvement and recommend steps to overcome those. One of the key biases being identified in this report is the self-interest bias. This is having the most probability of origination due to the reason that, in majority of the cases, the self interest of the decision makers deviate the effectiveness of an ideal decision making process. Thus, it is being recommended that, decision makers should prevent the generation of their self interests for the greater interest of the organizations. The less will be the influence of the self interest of the decision makers on the decision making process, the more will be the engagement of the employees with the decision. This is due to the reason that, if the decisions are being taken without any outside biases, then the employees will have the positive im pression and they will be more motivated and engaged to follow the same. The Hurt Locker

The movie Hurt Locker was released in 2008 at a film festival in Italy. Hurt Locker is an American action film directed and produced by Bigelow Kathryn. Just as the movie was criticized for the reckless nature of the uniformed soldiers, it went ahead to win many accolades from army veterans. The movie was produced at a time when the Middle East peace process was a global issue. However, the scenes used in the film were typical of an Iraqi style. Natives from Baghdad acted as refugees in the film. This gave the film its major storyline just as the producer described. Hurt Locker won many awards for best movie director, best screenplay, best war action movie to mention a few . To date, the movie remains the best film that portrayed the life of a combat soldier in Iraq (Horton, 2009). The hurt locker was an outdoor film, the producer took time to show the harsh environments that existed in the Middle East and the dangers an average citizen of Iraq encountered on a daily basis. Unlike many other action movies that were produced in a room, Hurt Locker portrayed a harsh and terrible life conditions. There was nothing intriguing about the interior decoration, it was purely a war movie, and it was done outside. The landscapes used in the movie were the rugged mountains and deserts, which was typical of an Iraqi terrain (Horton, 2009). The dry lands and the rough roads that were filled with dusts and stones provide the natural costumes for the movie. Hurt Locker was quite different from other movies because there was really no need for the beautiful costumes instead the movie was characterized with hard lines, blood, and explosions. The movie was fully packed with breathtaking scenes that made the audience love the film. The external decoration was well coordinated in such a way that made the actors and cast comfortable. The men were armed to the teeth, and that alone provided the feeling of real combat, and the ability to perform exemplary. Ordinarily when a person is dressed in a camouflaged uniform, he/she becomes aware of the enormous responsibility attached (Horton, 2009). The movie was loosely based on the testimonies of Mark Boal, a journalist attached to an elite bomb squad that operated in Iraq between 2003 and 2004. The transcripts of Mark’s testimony were used to act in the film. Kathryn Bigelow wanted to explore the inside story of an elite team in the heart of a major war. Although many news agencies tried to show and report stories from major conflicts at that time, Kathryn believed that, their stories fell short of a vivid account of each elite unit in a war situation. Kathryn believed that the reporters that covere d war actions in real situation had limitations and could only describe what they feel at certain times without physically taking pictures of the area. The movie cast performed well in the film and this contributed to the reason why the movie was chosen as the best movie in 2009. The movie did not show the rich class individuals and their extravagant lifestyle, instead it portrayed a society without the rule of law, and a society where survival was best served hot. The environment used in the film reminded the audience that peace was far-fetched in Ir aq and the inhabitants were at the mercy of the tyrants and warlords. Although it was a war movie, the settlements used were modern buildings that portrayed civilization of Iraq in modern times. The social status of the inhabitant’s mostly average class was observed throughout the film. Though non-racial in nature, the characters were mostly Americans, and those who portrayed Iraqi citizens were not natives of Iraq. Except for the refugees who were natives of Iraq, the remaining casts were not from Iraq. Hurt Locker went on to win many awards even though it had much criticism. Some army veterans argued that the reckless behavior of some of the officers of the elite bomb squad did not represent in true life the real state of an average marine. The co-ordination between the soldiers was poor. The interaction between members of the team was poor, and not befitting for such an elite team (Horton, 2009). In some instances in the movie, the zealous captain of the bomb squad gave hi mself a mission that was not sanctioned by the American command. This scenes over heated the argument of how this classic movie should be rated. The characters in the film were not specially treated unlike other movies, they never had a perfect room, or a private space or a kitchen filled with stylish furniture. The producer created a typical scene that will remind the audience it was wartime and not bedtime fantasy. The entire cast had to perform in extreme temperatures and had to work day and night just to maintain a perfect storyline. Most of the cast were at their best in the movie, but the major role played by Williams James was controversial. Although the film was non-racial, some people argue that the cast should have been Iraq natives. This means that wars are majorly between the West and the Middle East. The movie is excellent and a thriller with heart pounding suspense.
